Lake Garda, situated in the North of Italy, nestled in the Dolomite mountains, makes an absolutely fantastic base for your rugby tour. It is Italy's largest lake - if you didn't stop driving it would take about 3 and a half hours to get around the lake by car. It's very picturesque with lots of beaches, mountains, towns and attractions all round it.
Italians are among the most hospitable people in the world and will always make you feel very welcome for your matches. There are teams of all standards, including really strong rugby teams in this region.
Regarding nightlife, there are pubs and nightclubs in the towns around the lake, the main nightlife is situated in Garda or Desenzano del Garda but Lake Garda nightlife is lower key than you'd find in a city resort obviously. The food is amazing here, we especially love the restaurant with an all you can eat buffet and DJ playing requests too. Italians are among the most hospitable people in the world and will always make you feel very welcome for your matches. Brescia, Verona, even Milan and Venice are all within easy reach for matches and/or excursions and there are lots of amazing choices of activity on your doorstep too, why not have a swim in one of the thermal naturally heated lakes near lake Garda (constant 33 degrees year round), there's pretty much every kind of water sport available here including white water rafting.
