Bologna, the capital and largest city of the Emilia Romagna region in the North of Italy is home to the oldest university in the world and still has a large student population to this day, it is also, of course, where the great dish spaghetti Bolognese originated so make sure you try the original version while you're here.
There's lots of rugby here, the Italians are so welcoming and offer you wonderful hospitality off the pitch too.
Being a university town it means there's great nightlife, the area around the university itself has some great bars, Via Zamboni is where you'll find low budget restaurants and pubs, plus a special mention about Bar Wolf hosts live bands and serves beer & food and the nightclub Matis as they sometimes have live performers. Some unique excursions here including a visit to the Ferrari museum.
